Thousands of Titles, Millions Spent and We’re Still Fat!

There are a lot of diet books on the market. A recent search on Amazon resulted in over 36, 000 titles. More than 500 of those titles were released in the last 30 days. There is every possible trend to be explored in the world of diet books. From paleo to high carb to raw and vegan, if you’re into it there’s a book for you.

Every single one of those books will tell you that theirs is the only way to successfully lose weight.  “Forget the others,” the bright cover suggests, “for $29.99 I’ll be your solution to everlasting weight loss.”

All diet books are the same. They start with a clever little tease. Maybe it’s something about blood sugar or eating like a caveman. There will be some chapters devoted to “science” and a few success stories thrown in.  Next comes some version of a jump start plan followed by a longer one month or three month version. Finally the last half to quarter of the book is filled with boring recipes.

Just a sampling of the more than 36,000 titles available!

The short term success of these books means you’ll be back for another version of the same old crap. You’ll lose weight, then you’ll lose interest and then you’ll start again.
