Trust the Process

We are a society accustomed to instant gratification. Whatever we desire we can get with a few clicks of a mouse or a quick trip to the mall. The health and fitness industry caters to our “want it now!” mentality. So many fitness and diet programs promise quick results. You will never hear us say “with our program you’ll lose 40 pounds in two months,” or “lose five pounds a week guaranteed.” Programs with lofty weight loss promises are programs that will fail.

CrossFit is a different breed in a world of boot camps, Zumba and Herbal Magic. The only thing we promise is that it’s going to be tough. Results are earned through hard work and dedication.

At our affiliate we say it’s like climbing a mountain. We all want to get to the summit, but it takes time to master skills and build the strength necessary to reach the next peak.

It is important to trust the process. We never expect someone new to CrossFit to be able to box jump 20 inches or back squat their body weight. Instead we break each movement down into manageable progressions. Work on the skill; build the strength and then move on to a new progression. Each step along the progression chain gets you closer to mastery.

Keep track of your progress in your workout book. Note how much you lift, your times and rounds. Did you get a PR on shoulder press? Write it down! This is one thing that so many people neglect. Your workout book is your map to the next peak.

Where you are today is not where you will be in six month or a year. How far you are up the mountain that is CrossFit depends on how hard you work. In CrossFit there is no fast track to the top. Trust the process and enjoy the journey.

  1. I have been amazed by Crossfit and think it is great. People think by running for one week that they will reach their goals. It is a long, hard journey. You need to push yourself everyday, especially on those days you just don’t feel like going. Great post and best of luck with everything.
